Intended learning outcomes:
1 Demonstrate a knowledge of contemporary developments in the international politics of Africa.
2 Develop an understanding of the relationship between the analysis of the international politics of Africa and the theoretical analysis of international relations in general, both normative and empirical.
3 Develop skills in the efficient and effective presentation of materials, both oral and written, and in providing constructive feedback to co-learners.

Assessment 1: Format: An essay developed in response to a question chosen by the student, with prior approval from the convener.
Assessment 2: Name: Presentation (PS1)
Assessment 2: Weighting: 20%
Assessment 2: Format: A short tutorial presentation of an essay outline. A written handout will be submitted via Turnitin. The presentation itself will also involve responding to oral feedback from peers and tutors. Re-assessment will involve both the submission of a handout and the recording of a short video, in lieu of a tutorial in which to present.
